What goes in a renovation waste skip bin?
Renovation waste is the mixed rubbish from home renovations — timber, plaster, fittings and general strip-out material. Booking the correct waste type means the bin, weight allowance and pricing are right for your load. Displayed prices include delivery, pickup, GST and accepted waste removal within the bin's conditions.
Accepted materials
- Timber, skirting and offcuts
- Plasterboard and gyprock
- Fittings, cabinetry and fixtures
- Tiles and small amounts of rubble (within weight)
- Packaging and general strip-out waste
Not accepted — prohibited items
Never accepted (no exceptions). These hazardous items are prohibited in every skip bin:
- Asbestos, fibro and fibreglass
- Chemicals, liquids, oils and fuels
- Gas bottles and aerosols
- Paints and solvents
- Batteries
- Clinical or medical waste
Do not place these in the bin. If prohibited items are found after collection, contamination and disposal fees will be charged and the load may be rejected.
Not suitable for this waste type. Large amounts of concrete, brick or tiles are heavy fill — use a dedicated heavy-waste bin. Older homes may contain asbestos or fibro, which are never accepted and must be handled by a licensed remover.
Special items — surcharge applies
These items are accepted but attract a surcharge because they cost more to process. They are confirmed before checkout — they are not prohibited, just priced separately:
- Carpet and underlay
- Mattresses
- E-waste
Recommended sizes
A 4m³–8m³ skip suits most renovation jobs. See the skip sizes guide to match a size to your job.
