What goes in a builders waste skip bin?
Builders waste covers the mixed construction and demolition rubbish from building and renovation sites. Booking the correct waste type means the bin, weight allowance and pricing are right for your load. Displayed prices include delivery, pickup, GST and accepted waste removal within the bin's conditions.
Accepted materials
- Timber, framing and offcuts
- Plasterboard and gyprock
- Packaging, insulation and general site waste
- Fittings, fixtures and cladding (non-hazardous)
- Bricks, tiles and rubble in limited quantities (within weight)
Not accepted — prohibited items
Never accepted (no exceptions). These hazardous items are prohibited in every skip bin:
- Asbestos, fibro and fibreglass
- Chemicals, liquids, oils and fuels
- Gas bottles and aerosols
- Paints and solvents
- Batteries
- Clinical or medical waste
Do not place these in the bin. If prohibited items are found after collection, contamination and disposal fees will be charged and the load may be rejected.
Not suitable for this waste type. Large volumes of soil, concrete or brick are weight-limited — book a dedicated heavy-waste, soil or concrete bin for clean hard fill. Asbestos and fibro are never accepted (see prohibited items).
Special items — surcharge applies
These items are accepted but attract a surcharge because they cost more to process. They are confirmed before checkout — they are not prohibited, just priced separately:
- Carpet and underlay
- Mattresses
Recommended sizes
A 6m³–12m³ skip suits most builders' light and bulky waste; use a smaller heavy bin for dense fill. See the skip sizes guide to match a size to your job.
