Tasmanian skip operators are almost all family businesses running defined territories — Hobart and the south, Launceston and the Tamar, the north-west centres. That means the operator serving your postcode is usually the one who's serviced it for years and knows the access quirks of your street. It also means coverage is territorial: search your postcode to see who actually services your address rather than ringing around.

Older housing stock, older hazards
Tasmania has some of Australia's oldest housing stock, which means renovation strip-outs are more likely to encounter the materials no skip can take — lead paint debris in quantity, and fibro sheeting in mid-century additions that may contain asbestos. If a pre-1990 building is involved, get suspect sheeting tested before demolition day. Everything else from a strip-out — timber, plaster, fittings — goes in a standard general waste bin.
Sizing and access
Hobart's steep streets and Battery Point-style tight access reward planning: measure the driveway, check overhead clearance, and if the bin can't sit on your property, ask your council about footpath permits.
